Day 01: Cusco to Santa Teresa-Inca Jungle Trek with Biking & Rafting

The tour starts in the early hours of the day when we pick you up from your hotel in Cusco City where our adventure in Inca Jungle starts. Our first destination is the Sacred Valley where along the way you’ll see Andean landscapes, traditional villages, valleys which will reveal all the cultural heritage of the region. With altitude gain, the surroundings change and we will see the high mountain environment and the Vilcanota range, as well as similar landscapes which you could find on Salkantay route.

When we reach Abra Málaga (4,200 m / 13,779 ft), we receive a safety briefing from the guides and get prepared for downhill biking. The trail will take us through cloud forest, rivers, orchards and remote communities where you will have an opportunity to understand life in the Andes during the whole trek. We visit several communities such as the town of Santa María which connects the mountains and jungle.

Then after lunch and rest, we move on to the exciting river rafting on level III rapids. This activity brings additional fun into our program but also is suitable for tourists with different level of experience. By the end of the day, we will be at the edge of the Santa Teresa town, completing the first day of this wonderful adventure.

Day 02: Santa Teresa to Aguas Calientes-Inca Jungle Tour with Zipline

Post breakfast, the day begins with an exciting experience with the zipline ride in the high jungle canopy heights. Soaring from the mountain ridge to the deepest canyons, this activity makes it possible to have an eagle’s eye view of the landscapes, thus making this activity a distinct feature of the Inca jungle tour. With the dense forestation and spectacular landscapes, the experience not only thrills you but also mesmerizes you with the nature around.

Further ahead, we continue on with our journey in the Hydroelectric region where the lunch will be offered, followed by the leisure stroll to Aguas Calientes. The trail section provides us with the chance to take our time and soak in the surrounding environment that includes rivers, dense jungles and the railway trails connecting this place to the core of Inca civilization.

For the overnight stay, we’ll be resting at the gateway village of Aguas Calientes, which will provide dinner and overnight accommodation. This place will be our destination to be rested and refreshed for our upcoming destination.

Day 03: Machu Picchu – Essential Jungle Trek & Returning to Cusco

We will leave at dawn to Machu Picchu to arrive at the destination earlier than other tourists and enjoy the site in the morning. Entrance to Machu Picchu and Machu Picchu are included in the package, so there is nothing to worry about in terms of entrance tickets for today. After that, our guide will take us on the comprehensive walk through the whole site giving us some information about history and meaning of the Inca ruins.

After the tour, we will be able to spend some time walking around the site or watching views from there. In the end, we will return back to Aguas Calientes town taking the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo town and returning back to Cusco by private car after visiting Machu Picchu.

On the last day, we will be finishing our one of the most fascinating treks along this route which combines nature, history and culture perfectly. This itinerary covers all the logistics and thus all the things we should know about our trip.

Santa María – Santa Teresa Transfer

After the rafting experience, there will be a transfer to your hotel in Santa Teresa which takes approximately one hour.

Return Train Tickets

Tickets for the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo and then the bus from Ollantaytambo to Cusco. The reference price for both tickets is USD 60, but in case the price is higher, the difference should be paid accordingly. Note that during high season train tickets tend to become more expensive, so it is strongly recommended to book in advance.

The tour includes a train transfer from Machu Picchu (Aguas Calientes) to Ollantaytambo. Our driver will meet you at the station and transfer you to Cusco by bus.

The service ends in Plaza de Armas. In the case of a private tour, a transfer will be done right to your hotel.

Huayna Picchu Entrance

Huayna Picchu is famous mountain that stands behind Machu Picchu. Climb up this mountain to reach summit which takes around 45 minutes. Enjoy fantastic panoramic view of Machu Picchu, Urubamba river and Andean mountain range. Huayna Picchu permit is limited, so booking this option in advance is highly advised.
